Peacehaven Town Council Announces Four Key Autumn Initiatives to Support and Engage the Community

Peacehaven Town Council has announced a series of community-focused autumn campaigns, inviting residents to come together to support local families, socialise, reduce waste, and shape the future of a historic local landmark.

From enjoying a hot drink at a returning Welcome Café to donating warm clothing, volunteering as a repair expert, or sharing views on local heritage, there are multiple ways for the Peacehaven community to get involved over the coming months.

The Town Mayor of Peacehaven, Cllr Aimee Harman, said: “These autumn initiatives reflect the very best of Peacehaven: neighbours coming together to support one another, share skills, reduce waste and help shape the future of our town. Whether residents visit the Welcome Café, donate warm clothing, volunteer as a fixer or take part in the Meridian Monument consultation, every contribution will make a real difference. I encourage everyone to get involved in whatever way they can.”

The Welcome Café Returns This October

Providing a warm space for connection, The Welcome Café is officially returning on Monday 12th October. The café serves as a friendly hub for residents who want a chat, want to make new friends, or simply want to stay updated on what is happening in the local area. Everyone is welcome to attend.

• When: Every Monday from 10am to 1pm, starting 12th October.
• Where: Community House, Peacehaven BN10 8BB.
• A Warm Welcome for Everyone: Enjoy free tea, coffee and Wi-Fi. Cakes and pastries will be available for a small donation to help cover the café’s running costs, along with free baked goods courtesy of Havens Food Co-Operative.
• Winter Support: Attendees can also help themselves to a free, pre-loved winter coat to stay warm during the colder months.
• Community Support: Most weeks, the café will host various community groups and charities to advise residents on local services, support networks, and resources available to them.

Keeping Peacehaven Warm: The Annual Winter Clothing Appeal

In tandem with the café's winter coat distribution, Peacehaven Town Council is launching its broader Winter Appeal to collect clean, good-quality winter clothing for residents in need.

• Items Needed: Clean, good-quality coats, hats, gloves and scarves.
• How to Donate: Drop off items at Community House, Peacehaven BN10 8BB. Monday to Friday between 9pm and 4pm
• Important Note: To help our staff handle donations safely, please place clean items in a sealed bag before dropping them off. Thank you for understanding that we can only accept items prepared this way.

Launching the Brand-New Peacehaven Repair Café

In an effort to reduce waste and foster community spirit, a brand-new Repair Café is opening at Community House. The inaugural launch event will take place on Saturday 21st November.

To make the launch a success, the council is seeking handy, practical volunteers who love mending things to join the team of "volunteer fixers." Residents with skills in clothing and fabrics, small electrical items, small furniture, ceramics, ornaments, and small garden tools are encouraged to reach out.

King George V Meridian Monument Restoration Consultation

Peacehaven Town Council is calling on residents to help shape the future of a historic landmark through the King George V Meridian Monument Restoration Consultation. Public feedback will directly inform decisions regarding the monument’s restoration, long-term preservation, and future presentation.

• How to Participate: Residents can scan the official QR code on town promotional materials to fill out a short questionnaire or visit the Consultation
• In-Person Option: Paper forms can be filled out by popping into Community House, Peacehaven BN10 8BB Monday to Friday between 9pm and 4pm
• Deadline: The deadline for all consultation submissions is 25th October.
