Bowls England have awarded local club, Peacehaven and Telscombe Bowls Club the prestigious 2017 Regional Award for National Best Club. This means that the club has come third in the nationwide evaluation. Frank Leach, Club Secretary at Peacehaven and Telscombe BC, put the award win down to their Clubmark accredited status, which they achieved through Active Sussex and the support they have received over the past three years.
The two regional titles, generously supported by Drakes Pride, are awarded annually to the clubs that are judged to have shown the greatest efforts to promote the club, increase membership and work with the local community.
Bowls England Chief Executive Tony Allcock MBE said: “The quality of entries this year was once again of an exceptionally high standard. It is clear that many clubs are raising their game with regard to the work that they are doing to recruit and retain new members – most noticeably an increase in the use of social media to promote the sport to a wider audience.”
