Mayor’s Charity

The ABC Fund & Greenhavens Network

The Town Mayor of Peacehaven, Cllr. Aimee Harman has chosen two local charities to support. Both charities align with her interests and beliefs.

The ABC Fund

The ABC Fund was founded in 1991. Its purpose was to encourage children to raise funds to bring a smile to other children by providing them with treats.

Starting small, they bought pantomime tickets and Christmas food hampers, which they still do today, only on a much bigger scale.

They also bought in vouchers, provided equipment for holiday play schemes, 1500 colouring books and crayons for the hospital, as well as trauma teddies for the ambulance service. As their funds grew, so did their activities. They bought in more pantomime seats, increased the number of food hampers and enjoyed many more days out.

Today, they are a small, voluntary team raising funds and organising many activities for children.

Greenhavens Network

Greenhavens Network represents over 100 community groups and organisations working in and around green spaces in Peacehaven, Newhaven and Seaford. It was started in 2017 to support groups in protecting their green spaces, working together to gain funding and training, and to support one another.

Greenhavens Network member groups are passionate and enthusiastic about their green spaces and want to share that with their local communities. Groups are made up of hundreds of volunteers who provide thousands of hours of their free time.

Volunteering and running groups bring people together and often they make lifelong friends. It keeps you mentally and physically well by learning new skills and knowledge about nature and food growing. Groups need all sorts of support from admin to publicity as well as physical activities, so there is a space for all abilities and experience.
