MORRISONS LAUNCHES PLAN FOR REDEVELOPING PEACEHAVEN’S MERIDIAN CENTRE, CREATING UP TO 390 LOCAL JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Local residents to have their say on plans

Morrisons has revealed exciting plans for a comprehensive redevelopment of the Meridian Centre, Peacehaven, and is asking residents to share their thoughts about the proposal.

The plans will deliver a new, vibrant town centre for Peacehaven including a range of commercial, retail and community facilities – anchored by a brand-new Morrisons supermarket.

The development as a whole will create up to 390 local job opportunities and the new store will offer Morrisons’ full range of fresh food, including the popular ‘Market Street’ with specialist butchers, bakers and fishmongers.

A planning application for the principle, scale and design of the development will shortly be submitted to Lewes District Council.

Before any decisions are made, Morrisons is inviting local residents to have their say through a new consultation website – www.morrisons-peacehaven.co.uk – and a Public Consultation Exhibition where members of the public will be able to find out more information and give their feedback direct to Morrisons.

The Public Exhibition will be held in the vacant Unit 4/5 at the Meridian Centre on Friday 30th September (4.00 p.m. – 8.00 p.m.) and Saturday 1st October (10.00 a.m. – 2.00 p.m.).

Justin Lawrence, Senior Property Manager at Morrisons, said:

“This development offers a great opportunity to provide a new town centre for Peacehaven and its community. Our investment will create local employment and improve shopping choice in a town that is currently poorly served by major supermarkets.

“We want to hear the views of the public, so would be grateful if people could come to our exhibition or visit the consultation website to find more information and let us know what they think of the plans.”
