Town Clerk’s weekly blog

What a busy week that was …I have had at least two meetings every day this week and have only just drawn breath …as detailed in my last few weeks blog we are holding our first ever music festival on Saturday 22 June  with our headline act being the 1980’s cult MOD band “The Lambrettas”.

The Town Council want this to be real inclusive community event and we are now seeking individuals, organisations or businesses that would like a stall/display at the event. The event will start at 1pm and will finish at 11pm. Stall prices for individuals or charitable organisations will be priced at  £ 20 per stall per day and for businesses/commerical organisations will be priced at £30 per stall/per day. We would expect stalls to be open between 1pm and 7.00pm (except refreshment and catering stalls). If you would like a stall (numbers will be limited and will be on a first come- first served basis) please contact either Steve Keogh on 575122 or Kevin Kingston on 575123.

This week I, together with Kevin O’Donnell and his wife, met with representatives from the Co-Ops head office based in Manchester to discuss the empty units and the condition of the Meridan Centre mall. The meeting was very productive and having seen the centre for themselves they were very concerned and have vowed to bring together an action plan of improvements to the mall and will also be appointing a further managing agent to market the vacant units. The list of proposed improvements will be sent to the Town Council in 2 -3 weeks time and a summary of the planned improvements will appear in the next edition of the Peacehaven Times and the local press.

I have also was given the opportunity to present the Town Council’s business plan for the coming year the Youth Action Team on Wednesday (which I think went down well !)  and anyone that it is interested in the plans of the Town Council for the coming year may be interested to come along to the Town Council meeting on Tuesday 5 March to find out a bit more about the plan…the meeting starts at 6.30pm.

Finally, I met with the lovely Appleton Family at Halcombe Farm on Wednesday . We discussed a whole range and issues affecting the town and it was clear to me that the family are very keen to help and support , and are very much committed, to the Town and are keen to see improvements in the  town …it was great to hear that the family love living here and are equally  keen to see and support improvements in the Town.

Until next week…..
